Christie Brown

Christie Brown is a ceramic artist who has exhibited widely in the UK and abroad. She creates figurative pieces, many of which are representations of human-animal hybrids. Her work is informed by an interest in archaeological objects in museum collections, particularly figurines of ancient deities which demonstrate an approach to the animal world that is very different from our present day mix of exploitation and sentiment.

Christie Brown is Professor of Ceramics at the University of Westminster. Her work is in several private and public collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum. She was artist in residence at Hunter College, New York in 2006, and at the International Ceramics Research Centre, Guldagergaard, Denmark in 2009.
